Usher Wanted Lil Wayne And Beyonce's 'Love In This Club' Remix To Be 'Crazier Than The Original'

Usher has been making some boss moves for his latest LP, Here I Stand. Who else can commandeer appearances from both Jay-Z and Beyoncé, not to mention Will.I.Am, Young Jeezy and Lil "This is th-the remix baaaa-baaaay" Wayne?

"The remix to 'Love in This Club' features the Queen and ... one of the illest," Usher began to tell MTV Base of the version featuring Wayne and Beyoncé, whom he's dubbed the Queen of R&B.

Trumpeting Weezy F. Baby, he said, "Wayne, pound
for pound, is one of the illest in the game, and I wanted it to be something that would be a surprise, be a shock. Have shock value. That's what the remix is all about. 'Damn, did you hear the remix? It's crazier than the original. I like it more.' I just think it's great. Plies actually did a verse on it as well. He came with it. Everybody basically did their thing, and I am very happy that I was able to put that one in."

Although it's still unclear whether or not Ush will be dropping a video for his mega-reworking, he just let loose a video for another single, "Moving Mountains." The clip starts exactly where the video for the original "Love in This Club" ends, with Ush walking out of a steamy nightspot only to see everything around him — including the venue he just exited — in shambles. In "Moving Mountains," he has to climb to the highest peak to find his love.

Here I Stand comes out on Tuesday (May 27). The singer also confirmed to MTV Base what Polow Da Don told MTV News several weeks ago: that Polow was responsible for putting Young Jeezy on "Love in This Club," a move Usher obviously didn't mind.

"Jeezy is one of the greatest rappers of our generation," the singer noted.

The Ting Tings' former label responds to 'cash in' claims

Switchflicker Records, the record company that released 1,000 vinyl copies of The Ting Tings' single, 'That's Not My Name'/ 'Great DJ' last year, have responded to claims by the band that they are now cashing in on the band's success.

The Ting Tings were critical on their blog about copies of their first release currently being sold at inflated prices - however, the label insisted they are doing nothing wrong as they own the stock and were selling selling remaining copies in line with the record's current value.

"Switchflicker Records supported The Ting Tings in the early stages of their career and released 1,000 copies of their debut single ('That's Not My Name'/'Great DJ') in June of last year," they explained in a statement. "Switchflicker has the invoice, order form and credit card receipt to prove that the label paid for these and not The Ting Tings. These seven-inch vinyl copies were sold at 2 each.

"Switchflicker is selling the remaining stock (which the label owns) at todays market price. People have already sold unsigned copies for 50 on eBay)."

The label added that they were surprised the band had criticised them bearing in mind their financial status.

"The Ting Tings recently signed to Columbia Records for a reported ???," they said. "Switchflicker is, by contrast, a small independent label which has made no profit in respect of releasing the single, which brought the band to everyone's attention. Switchflicker wishes them well."

Police won't question Olsen about Ledger

DUFFY

Rockferry (Mercury): A-

The Amy Winehouse comparisons are unavoidable: Duffy is another young, white chick from the UK whose music comes steeped in a retro ’60s vibe. But instead of sass and swagger, Duffy is all vulnerability, evoking memories of both Motown queen Mary Wells and English soul queen Dusty Springfield. The 23-year-old Welsh lass excels on a set of mostly broody ballads aided by hooky arrangements from the likes of Suede guitarist Bernard Butler; check out “Syrup & Honey,” a stripped-down nod to Otis Redding. The best example of the pop smarts of “Rockferry” is the sole up-tempo cut, the single “Mercy,” the track to download since you’ll want to hear it again as soon as it’s over.

Jude Law’s son lands major film role

JUDE LAW’s young son RAFFERTY has landed his first major film role - starring alongside his father in sci-fi thriller REPOSSESSION MAMBO.
The 11-year-old will play a younger version of Law’s character in the movie, which is due for release next year (09).
Law’s ex-wife and Rafferty’s mother, Sadie Frost, is convinced the youngster is perfect for the role as he has inherited his dad’s good looks.

David MacKenzie joins 'Stain in the Snow'

Film an adaptation of Georges Simenon novel

CANNES -- Red-hot Scottish director David MacKenzie ("Hallam Foe") has boarded the psychological drama "Stain In the Snow," an adaptation of the 1948 novel by Georges Simenon, which Germany's Studio Hamburg International is producing.

Mackenzie will move to "Stain" after finishing his U.S. feature film debut, the sex comedy "Spread" starring Aston Kutcher and Anne Heche.

Studio Hamburg is currently developing the script together with Chorion, the UK-based executors of the Simenon estate. Shooting on the $11 million- $14 million pictures is planned for 2009 in Germany.

Studio Hamburg's Malte Grunert and Sytze van der Laan will produce with Chorion receiving an executive producer credit.

Set in an unnamed country obviously based on Nazi-occupied France, the novel is about a naive boy who descends into psychosis and depravity. It was previously adapted for the screen by Luis Saslavsky as "La Neige etait sale" (1952).

Simenon was one of the most prolific and acclaimed writers of the 20th century. His books have sold more than 600 million copies worldwide and dozens have been made into films. Simenon was president of the Cannes jury in 1960.

Hall & Oates return to LA's Troubadour after 35 years

Hall & Oates returned to the Troubadour for two sold-out gigs this week -- their first shows at the legendary Los Angeles venue since the Philadelphia duo played their first shows in the city 35 years ago.

The band were in high spirits during their two-hour set Friday night (May 23), which saw them playing hits including 'Maneater', 'She's Gone' and 'Rich Girl' as well as Daryl Hall's solo material and some obscure numbers.

"We've never played this one outside Atlantic Records," Hall said before the band launched into 'Had I Known You Better Then', a melodic ballad on which John Oates sings lead vocals.

The duo drew a diverse crowd ranging from the senior set to 20-something indie kids, possibly due in part to younger bands including Death Cab For Cutie, Fall Out Boy and Flight Of The Conchords name-checking them as influences in recent months.

Hall & Oates were backed by a tight five-piece band featuring musicians such as Tom 'T-Bone' Wolk, with whom they've played for years.

The house lights were turned up throughout their entire set, giving the proceedings a homely, community vibe. "I see you all smiling, that's good," Hall said -- smiling himself throughout the entire night.

Adoring fans cheered and sang along to nearly every song, including a man who proudly displayed a license plate that read 'HNO4EVR'.

Hall & Oates returned to the stage for two encores, concluding the night with a rare performance of their massive 1981 hit 'Private Eyes'.

Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett accused of being “capitalist puppets”

Indiana JonesIndiana Jones stars Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett have been accused of being “capitalist puppets” by Leaders of a Russian Communist Party.

The Communist Party of St. Petersburg say the actors promote crude, anti-Soviet propaganda in their new film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull; and have urged Russia’s movie-going public to boycott the film and told Ford, 65, not to visit the country.

Crystal Skull, directed by Steven Spielberg, is the fourth movie in the lucrative movie franchise that began in 1981. It’s set in the Cold War in 1957 and pits Indiana Jones against a sinister KGB agent, played by Blanchett, who leads a ruthless team of Soviet spies in the hunt for a skull endowed with mystical powers.
